High School/Local College Sports for Feb. 16, 2013

Boys Swimming & Diving

Lockport Sectional: Jake Knowles won the 100 free (47.82) and 100 breaststroke (58.94) in pacing Lockport (265) to a second-place finish behind Sandburg (289). The Porters also received victories from Tyler Pastore in diving (494.80) and the foursome in the 200 medley relay (1:38.13).

Neuqua Valley Sectional: Plainfield co-op?s Brandon Tran won the 100 breaststroke (58.87) and teammate Alex Netzel took third in the 500 free (4:43.39).

Boys Basketball

Neuqua Valley 49, Plainfield East 35: Visiting Plainfield East fell to 11-15.

College Baseball

Lyon (Ark.) 2-13, St. Francis 1-2: Mike Chimera had the RBI for visiting St. Francis (4-2) in the opener. Anthony Feliciano starred for the Saints in the nightcap, going 2-for-2.

Men?s Basketball

Olivet Nazarene 67, St. Francis 62: Chris Miller (6 rebounds) netted 18 points and Andrew Lerg (6 rebounds) added 16 for visiting St. Francis (19-11, 15-9) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Women?s Basketball

Olivet Nazarene 113, St. Francis 102: Katie Gonnering scored 23 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to pace visiting St. Francis (13-16, 12-10) in the CCAC. Debra Jenkins (16 points, 7 rebounds) and Marissa Draper (13 points, 9 rebounds) also starred for the Saints.

Lewis 62, McKendree 50: Jess Reinhart had 19 points and eight rebounds to spark host Lewis (18-5, 11-4) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
