Get It Scrapped Post: Scrapbooking With the Color GREEN! (& The ...

Thebostonpilot

Green is associated with Ireland and I've been researching my family's history. The photo is of my great-great-grandparent's family and as you can see, the Flavins had lots of children - and sometimes the families didn't come over all at once.??I recently learned of a paper called "The Boston Pilot" which was like the Irish Facebook of the 1800s, it was how the Irish immigrants found their families over here.??I did a search and found some of my Flavin / Flavhin family who were from Waterford and Cork (which explains a lot about my Grandmother's love of dishes and crystal and her gift of gab - Cork is where Blarney Castle with the Blarney Stone is located.)?

I printed out some of the Information Wanted's from The Pilot; which you can access through Boston College's website.? These print-outs seemed perfect for a pocket page so I grabbed some random green papers and embellishments.??Then I came across a really old pre-made tag "Birds of a Feather" and while the tag seems seriously out of date (in a scrapbooking way); it seemed perfect for the theme of the Irish immigrants flocking to their families and keeping together in a neighborhood.?? (And that tag does include the "house motif" so I thought, why not.)

Supplies:??October Afternoon and K&Company patterned papers; KI Memories letter stickers; super old tag (that I didn't make - I think a friend gave it to me about 10 years ago!).

Journaling:??"When Irish Immigrants arrived in Boston, they'd find their families in The Pilot.??It was the Facebook of the 1800s."
